Second Cuba-European Union Joint Council begins this MondayHAVANA, Cuba, Sep 9 (ACN) The Second Cuban-European Union Joint Council begins its sessions this Monday in Havana with the purpose of reviewing the status of the implementation of the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement (PDCA).
Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Cuba's Minister of Foreign Affairs (MINREX) heads his delegation to the meeting, as does Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and Vice-President of the European Commission.
The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the implementation of the ADPC, signed in 2016 between Cuba and the European Union and its Member States, which entered into force on 1 November 2017, will be evaluated at the meeting, thus laying the foundations for a new framework for mutual ties.
The first Cuba-European Union Joint Council took place in Belgium, whose capital is Brussels, on 15 May 2018.
At that time, Rodriguez Parrilla and the head of European diplomacy signed a cooperation agreement worth 18 million euros to support renewable energies on the island.
Mogherini (Italy) has been in the country on several occasions and last May he spoke in Brussels, in a meeting with the Cuban Chancellor, about the need to suspend Title III of the Helms-Burton law, which tightens the economic, financial and commercial blockade of the United States against Cuba.
