Train terminals in Matanzas go under repairs to receive new Chinese cars

HAVANA, Cub, Jul 4 (ACN) Changes in carpentry, roof waterproofing and repair of passenger lounges stand out among the works in train terminals of central in the province of Matanzas, stop of the new cars from China.

Alain Ramos, director of the Base Business Unit (UEB) Ferrocarriles Matanzas, told ACN that the restoration work in stations from the town of Mocha to the municipality of Los Arabos also includes exterior painting and hydraulic networks, in order to guarantee the stability of the water service.
In the terminal of this city the main hall is divided to create two spaces with more seats, one for reservations for passengers who have secured their tickets and another waiting list for those who arrive at the last minute, added the electrical engineer.
Ramos also said that the station crew itself repaired the roof of platforms and improved interior and exterior lighting with new LED lamps, actions that had not been carried out for years.
The five national trains will stop at the terminal of this city, one of them will also in Jovellanos (Bayamo train) and another in Colón (Holguín train), with the capacity of a car for the passengers of Matanzas and daily frequency instead of the current one, every three or four days, he specified.
Reports from the Union of Cuban Railroads (UFC) say that the coaches, with 72 capacities and space for 720 passengers, will have first class cars, with air conditioning and television, and others of second class, with fans and windows.
According to the newspaper Juventud Rebelde, Eduardo Rodríguez, Minister of Transport, said that the proposed prices are under revision, but they will always be cheaper than buses.
