HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 1(ACN) The 12 International Convention on Environment and Development will be inaugurated tis Monday at the Havana Convention Center with the presence of more than 1,300 representatives from 56 countries, according to the Organizing Committee.
The opening act will include a conference by Eusebio Leal Spengler, Historian of Havana, to which the multiple meeting for its 500th anniversary is dedicated next November 16, and the number of delegates is much higher than in previous editions, he announced.
The largest groups come from Mexico, Colombia and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, which will be present at the event, the first of which was held in 1997 at the same location to coincide with World Environment Day.
They are scientists, students, managers, directors, ministers, deputy ministers, communicators and leaders of environmental education.
According to the program, topics related to environmental education, protected areas, environmental management and regulation, management of ecosystems and biodiversity, climate change, as well as politics, law and justice will be dealt with.
Also around environmental regulation and control, natural history museums, sustainability sciences, disaster risk management and confronting climate change, transport and environment, as well as sustainable land management.
On this occasion, new events will be added, including symposia on Earth Sciences; Space and Space Climate; Caves, Carso and Underground Environments; Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Ecosystems; and Young Environmentalists, which will expand their thematic content.
There will also be an Exhibition Fair on Environmental Technologies, Projects and Experiences, with more than 350 meters of area, where 20 scientific and environmental institutions from Cuba and abroad will exhibit, with a view to socialization and exchange of knowledge and establishment of links between exhibitors and participants.
