Havana-Holguín train to run againHAVANA, Cuba, May 13 (ACN) The Havana-Holguín passenger train, which has not run since 2006, will run again in the second half of this year, with departures every three days.

The training will consist of 12 modern cars of Chinese manufacture, with great comfort, cafeteria service and other amenities, according to a report published today by Granma newspaper.
It will have the capacity to transport 720 passengers to different destinations along the central railway, between the first class, which will be air-conditioned, and second class.
The trip is scheduled to take 13 hours, with stops in Jaruco, Matanzas, Colón, Santa Clara, Guayos, Ciego de Ávila, Camagüey, Las Tunas and Cacocum.
In order to ensure the restoration of the service, work is being done on the repair of the Holguín railway station, the access line from Cacocum and the technical revision and return workshops.
The project is part of the Cuban Railway Recovery and Development Program, an investment of some three billion dollars.
This program also includes the modernization of the national trains, which Guantánamo and Granma, with equal frequency, and Santiago de Cuba, on alternate days.
