MATANZAS, Cuba, Apr 30 (ACN) Miguel Díaz-Canel, President of the Councils of State and Ministers, inaugurated on Monday the Hotel Río San Juan, in this Cuban city, during the government visit to the western province of Matanzas.
The Cuban leader, accompanied by other political and governmental authorities, urged the workers of the facility to preserve the eclectically designed building, which respects the patrimonial physiognomy of the so-called Athens of Cuba of the nineteenth century.
With 24 high standard rooms, the hotel belonging to the Islazul chain is located on Jovellanos Street, between the Centro and Rio arteries, a central area very close to the river that gives it its name.
Diaz-Canel visited a city community in the Naranjal Norte neighborhood, where around 70 houses will be built , which will give significant impulse to the housing fund in Matanzas, recognized among the best in the country with almost 70 percent of the properties evaluated in good condition.
In the municipality of Cárdenas, he toured the Base Business Unit belonging to the Construction Materials Company for subsidies and victims of weather events and urged to avoid illegalities in this regard.
He also visited the headquarters of the Decorarte Non-Agricultural Cooperative, the only one of its kind in Cuba for making didactic toys, where he highlighted the excellence and quality of the products, as well as the human value for children.
In the Industrial Railway Company José Valdés Reyes, Díaz-Canel learned about the projects for the repair of freight cars, as well as about the links with the University of Matanzas in order to apply science and technology in production.
The President of the Councils of State and Ministers was informed about the possibility of assembling around a hundred ferrobuses for the transfer of passengers, mainly in short stretches.
