Strong local storm wreaks havoc in Santa ClaraHAVANA, Cuba, Apr 29 (ACN) A severe local storm affected the city of Santa Clara on Sunday afternoon, and the Institute of Meteorology reported that, according to preliminary reports, in the province of Villa Clara there were strong gusts of wind, hailstorms and intense rains in some localities.

According to a Facebook report by journalist Minoska Cadalso, some 60 homes in the Communities of the Air Base, San Miguel, Frank País, Sakenaf and Caracatey have been affected.
Shee added that "so far 11 circuits in the city of Santa Clara are off, however, there are working four brigades of the Electric Company with six cars, as reported by Osnay Miguel Colina, first secretary of the Party in Santa Clara, who immediately went to the scene of the events.
About 800 m2 of roof were damaged by winds at Abel Santamaria International Airport, said its director, Omar Andres Gil, who also noted that operations at the facility are stopped, Cadalso's note states.
Planned flights for the Abel Santamaría air terminal will depart this Monday from Varadero and Cienfuegos.
The Institute of Meteorology also reported that there were events of severe weather, with hailstorms and strong winds in gusts in Arango, municipality of Guanabacoa, Havana; in the town of Los Pinos, municipality of Cabaiguán, Sancti Spíritus; in the Loma del Tanque, in Santa Cruz del Norte, Mayabeque, and in Najasa, Camagüey.
