Cuban deputy FM develops intense working agenda in GenevaHAVANA, Cuba, Feb 28 (ACN) Marcelino Medina Gonzalez, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, met with Michelle Bachelet, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, during the High-Level Segment of the XL ordinary session of the Human Rights Council, which took place in Geneva, Switzerland, until Wednesday.

A note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that both parties agreed on the will to maintain a respectful and constructive dialogue between Cuba and the Office of the High Commissioner and on the importance of continuing to work for the promotion and protection of all human rights for all on a non-selective and non-discriminatory basis.

The Cuban diplomat thanked the High Commissioner for her work to date and reiterated Cuba's readiness to continue to support the fulfillment of her mandate.

Medina Gonzalez also had a meeting with Michael Møller, Director General of the United Nations Office in Geneva and Secretary General of the Conference on Disarmament.

As part of his agenda, the Cuban diplomat also met with Retno L.P. Marsudi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, in which both parties recognized the existence of potentialities between the two countries to promote bilateral cooperation.

The Cuban vice-chancellor was accompanied by Rodolfo Reyes Rodríguez, Director General of Multilateral Affairs and International Law of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Pedro Luis Pedroso Cuesta, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations Office in Geneva and other international organizations based in Switzerland.
