Roberto López Hernández, Cuban Vice-Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, highlighted the Bolivia's willingness to collaborate with the island in disaster situations, as it was one of the first countries to provide aid, as well as after Hurricane Irma.
He also stressed the importance of donated resources as they will help in the reconstruction of affected homes.
Lopez Hernandez said the mattresses and sheets will be delivered to the government of the capital, from where its destiny will be decided.
Rear Admiral Javier Ayllon Vargas, Director General of Emergencies and Auxiliaries of the Vice-Ministry of Civil Defense of Bolivia, told the Cuban News Agency that this aid is a sign of solidarity between both nations, and ratifies the position of his people and President Evo Morales to support the Republic of Cuba.
Alidson Gómez Agostopa, Chargé d'Affaires of the Bolivian Embassy, explained that while in Havana they were able to verify the damage caused by the meteorological event, and for this reason it was decided to donate these valuable supplies for the victims.
For the government of Havana, this donation means a boost in the reconstruction work, which will accelerate the rehabilitation of the houses and their delivery to the people who lost so much with the tornado, said Tatiana Viera Hernández, vice-president of the Provincial Assembly of the Popular Power of Havana.
Cuba has also received aid from Venezuela and from international organizations and companies, which have shown solidarity after a EF4 tornado wreaked havoc in Havana
