Cuban Communist Party top official receives delegation from Germany's Left Party

HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 8 (ACN) The Second Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, José Ramón Machado Ventura, received on Thursday night Hans Modrow, president of the Veterans Council of the Left Party of Germany, who is making an official visit to our country, along with a delegation from that party.

At the meeting, the Cuban leader highlighted the ties of friendship that have united Modrow to our country since 1970, and his activism in solidarity in the fight against the financial, economic and commercial blockade that the United States government has imposed on Cuba.
Machado Ventura spoke of the importance of the constitutional reform process for the continuity of our Revolution, which will culminate in the referendum on February 24.
Hans Modrow praised the heroism of the Cuban people in the great battles they wage in economic and social development, in order to maintain the conquests achieved, as well as the efforts being made to recover from the damage caused by the tornado that struck Havana last January 27. He also congratulated the Communist Party of Cuba on the 60th anniversary of the Revolution.
Present at the meeting were the member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Party and head of its Department of International Relations, José Ramón Balaguer Cabrera, as well as other officials of the Central Committee.
