HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 28 (acn) The Office of the Commissioner of the Caribbean Confederation of Professional Baseball (CBPC by its Spanish acronym) reported today "officially and irrevocably" the decision to "withdraw the headquarters of the 2019 Caribbean Series to the city of Barquisimeto, Venezuela."

According to the website www.seriedelcaribe.net: "the event will be held in an alternate venue, from next February 4 to 9", and not from 2-8, as originally planned.
The note adds that the resolution "has been taken by the majority of the CBPC members, with the only vote against of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League," thus fulfilling, in accordance with the statutes that govern the organization, the condition for the headquarters removal ».
In this way, it was ignored the Venezuelan request to remain as venue of the competition, expressed by Pedro Infante, domestic Minister of Youth and Sports, who insisted on the existence of "total guarantee" and assured that the contest would have the greatest security available.
The Cuban Baseball Federation, which since yesterday reiterated its willingness to play in Barquisimeto, noted on Sunday to be aware of the events and will make a statement in the next few hours.
