Cuban Minister's visit to Brussels wraps up with boost for cooperationHAVANA, Cuba, Jan 21 (ACN) After several bilateral meetings with representatives of business groups, government leaders and the European bloc, Rodrigo Malmierca, Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, concluded his visit to Brussels, capital of Belgium.

The Minister met this Sunday with distributors of Cuban cigars in Europe, a market that in 2018 registered over-compliances in its plan for exports to Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands, with centers of excellence such as the Casa del Habano in Brussels and Cohiba Atmosphere in Antwerp.
In Twitter, Malmierca described the meetings with European commissioners Neven Mimica and Christos Stylianides, in charge of development cooperation and humanitarian aid in the regional integration bloc, as useful, and confirmed a dialogue meeting on sustainable development in Havana in March this year.
In addition, the Cuban Minister met Stefano Manservisi, Director General of International Cooperation and Development of the European Commission, with whom he analyzed the feasibility of several new projects, especially those linked to the 500 years of the Cuban capital.
Malmierca arrived in Brussels this Friday with an intense work agenda that included a meeting with the president of the Chamber of Commerce of this nation, Bernard de Gerlache; and shortly afterwards he spoke with businessmen to promote Belgian investment in Cuba.
Trade and political dialogue links between the European Union and Cuba have expanded in recent years as part of a process that reached one of its climaxes in May 2018 with the first edition of the EU-Cuba Joint Council, as part of the implementation of the document on Political Dialogue and Cooperation between the two parties.
