UNICEF praises Cuban immunization program for childrenHAVANA, Cuba, Jan 8 (ACN) The United Nations Children's Fund in Cuba (Cuba-Unicef) recognized the importance of the immunization program for Cuban children, through which more than 95,000 infants were immunized on the Island during 2018 with the triple viral vaccine (PRS).

Cuba currently has vaccination coverage of more than 98 percent, with 11 preparations of which several are nationally produced that protect against 13 diseases, according to Prensa Latina agency.
Among those diseases that attack immunogens are polio, diphtheria, measles, whooping cough and rubella.
The World Health Organization (WTO) has reiterated the importance of vaccination that prevents diseases, disabilities and deaths from preventable diseases such as cervical cancer, diphtheria, hepatitis B, measles, mumps, pertussis and pneumonia, polio, rotavirus diarrhea, rubella and tetanus.
It notes that improving global vaccine coverage could prevent 1.5 million deaths.
