HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 24 (ACN) Venezuela and Cuba today ratify their ties with new challenges for 2019, said the ambassador of the Caribbean island, Rogelio Polanco, during the celebration of the anniversary of the Cuban Revolution.
On January 1st we will celebrate 60 years of our definitive liberation, of our struggles and resistance of the Cuban people of so many generations that have made possible our socialist, democratic and prosperous nation," said the representative from the diplomatic headquarters in Caracas, reports Prensa Latina.
Polanco also referred to the common challenges of both countries for the period that begins before the constant threats of interference from the United States administration.
In 2019 we will have to challenge new difficulties, attempts to end our sovereignty, that is why we must do it together, Cubans and Venezuelans, he also said at the celebration.
During this year Cuba faced great obstacles, among others, the recovery after the passage of hurricanes Irma and Maria, as well as the results of the U.S. blockade to try to undermine our independence and sovereignty, said the diplomat.
From Venezuela we witnessed the resistance of the people of this nation, also harassed by the same enemy and that, with the same courage, has overcome that siege, he emphasized.
The Cuban ambassador referred to the referendum called for the coming February, after Saturday's approval of the new draft Magna Carta.
The Cuban people have all mobilized to debate the draft constitution for the country we dream of and want to bequeath to our daughters and sons,' he acknowledged in that sense.
Our embassy will become an electoral college as will be almost 700 ballot boxes throughout Venezuela, so that more than 22,000 collaborators vote for the law of laws,' said the diplomat.
