HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 21 (ACN) In the lower part of the capital coastal town of Cojímar, belonging to the municipality of Habana del Este, the preventive evacuation of the population living in areas at risk of flooding began, due to the impact of a low pressure system.
The authorities of the Popular Council and the Municipality Party, as well as units of the National Revolutionary Police, are in 21st Street, carrying out evacuation tasks and going house to house.
So far, the sea has a moderate force, but at times the waves are higher.
In the area there are many houses with patios overlooking the sea and because they are in the coastal area, they have already suffered flooding, as happened during Hurricane Irma, hence the actions being carried out.
Self-evacuation to the homes of relatives or neighbors is a priority, and the citizens are putting their belongings in good hands, it was reported.
During the last few hours, solid waste accumulated in the area has been collected and other cleaning tasks have been carried out.
The last advisory issued by the Institute of Meteorology announced that today there will be heavy swells on the northwest coast, with moderate to heavy coastal flooding in lowlands from Pinar del Río to Mayabeque, including the Havana Malecon
