Leading Spanish catering company, new user in Mariel Special Development Zone

HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 20 (ACN) A Spanish company specialized in food, laundry and cleaning services was established as a new user in the Mariel Special Development Zone  (ZEDM), bringing to 43 the number of entities operating in this Cuban initiative for foreign investment.
Newrest Catering Mariel, S.A., will be dedicated to the elaboration and preparation of food and beverages for their supply to companies, restaurants and facilities, and will also provide laundry and cleaning services, according to a press release made public in Havana.
The entity will have a modern technology plant, conceives the use of local raw materials and plans to provide catering services to some 1,600 diners, a figure that will progressively increase to reach 6,600.
Newrest Catering Mariel, S.A., which will be located in the agri-food processing zone in Sector A, is a subsidiary of Newrest Group Holding, S.A., considered one of the world leaders in multi-sector catering, and daily prepares more than one million meals for leading companies around the world.
The group's website, part of the French group Newrest, born in 1996, specifies that it deploys its know-how in 49 countries around the world: our 30,800 employees prepare 1,100,000 meals a day.
The ZEDM, five years after its creation, today shows positive results both in the development of its infrastructure and in business, which has a favorable impact on the lives of the more than five thousand workers it now has, most of them in the province of Artemisa.
There are 43 approved businesses there and this has been the year in which more money has been raised, a figure that exceeds 474 million dollars, at the same time that this year was inaugurated the first administrative concession with the company Viglacera SA, a Vietnamese construction entity, which in turn may bring other investors.
