HAVANA, Dec 5 (ACN) The 14th Cuba-China Business Committee is underway in Havana's Hotel Nacional with the presence of some one hundred business executives.
The President of the Cuban Chamber of Commerce, Orlando Hernandez Guillen said during the inauguration that economic relations and bilateral trade have strengthened.
He recalled that in 2017 China was Cuba's first trading partner in Asia and second worldwide and highlighted the wide range of resources are present in sectors like health, education, informatics, telecommunications and food.
Hernandez Guillen commented that there is no doubt that sectors like tourism, renewable energy, construction, agriculture, biotechnology and pharmaceutical is of interest for Chinese business executives, however the presence of investment in Cuba is still far from the existing potential.
The Vice President of the Chinese Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Chen Zhou affirmed that there are special friendly relations between both countries.
He pointed out that since the establishment of diplomatic relations 58 years ago, bilateral trade has grown and economic and comercial cooperation have continued strengthening with the joint efforts of both Governments and business communities.
The high quality electronic and mechanical products from China are present in thousands of Cuban homes and the Caribbean island's sugar products, rum, cigars and seafood are favorites among Chinese consumers, he said.
The 2019 Action Plan of the Business Committee was signed on Wednesday in addition to the memorandum of understanding between the Cuban Promotion Center of Foreign Trade and Investment and the Chinese Council for the Promotion of International Trade.
The event program contemplates a presentation on the atmosphere for investment in Cuba and the two Chinese provinces, in addition to bilateral development encounters.
