Spanish President to meet Diaz-Canel and hold official talksHAVANA, Cuba, Nov 22 (ACN) Pedro Sánchez Pérez Castejón, President of the Government of the Kingdom of Spain will arrive in Cuba today afternoon to complete an official visit.

This is the first official visit of Sánchez Pérez to the Island, and also the first of a President of the Spanish Government to Cuba since the one made by Felipe González in 1986.
A note from the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs that the president will hold official conversations with Cuban authorities and will pay tribute to José Martí in the memorial that bears his name in this capital.
He will also take a tour of Old Havana, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Cuba and Spain have maintained uninterrupted diplomatic relations since 1902, in addition to the historical and cultural ties that unite both nations.
Currently, Spain occupies the third place in Cuba's commercial exchange with foreign countries, in addition to being the main commercial partner of the Island in Europe, as evidenced by its extensive participation in the last International Fair of Havana (FIHAV 2018).
Pedro Sánchez's visit confirms the willingness of both governments to foster political dialogue and institutional ties that support cooperation, financial and investment relations between countries.
This visit takes place shortly after the meeting held between the President of the Spanish Government and Miguel Díaz-Canel, President of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba, at the United Nations.
The arrival of Pedro Sánchez in Cuba constitutes an opportunity to exchange on the current state and perspectives of bilateral relations.
