Cuban VP receives the Director General for Cooperation and Development of the European CommissionHAVANA, Cuba, Nov 20 (ACN) The Vice-President of the Council of Ministers, Ricardo Cabrisas, received Stéfano Manservisi, Director General for Cooperation and Development of the European Commission, on Monday afternoon as part of the work programme he is developing in the country in the framework of the first Cuba-European Union Cooperation Sub-Committee.

During the meeting, they exchanged views on the current state and future prospects of bilateral cooperation, recognizing the progress achieved in the last year in the implementation of the Multiannual Indicative Programme for the period 2014-2020, which provides Cuba with non-reimbursable funds amounting to 50 million euros for the energy and agriculture sectors, as well as the exchange of experts.
They also agreed on the importance of continuing to deepen work in these sectors, which are priorities for Cuba's economic and social development.
Vice President Cabrisas stressed the importance of setting up this Cooperation Subcommittee as part of the implementation of the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement signed bilaterally in December 2016, which will contribute to strengthening cooperation ties in an atmosphere of respect, transparency and trust.
Stéfano Manservisi was accompanied by Alberto Navarro, Ambassador of the European Union in Cuba, and Jolita Butkeviciene, Director for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Directorate General for Cooperation and Development of the European Commission.
Also present on the Cuban side were Ileana Núñez Mordoche, Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Inalvis Bonachea González and Danae de Paz Grau, director and official of the European Trade Policy Directorate of that ministry, respectively.
