HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 8 (ACN) Esteban Lazo Hernández, President of the National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP), received Maya Fernández Allende, President of the Chamber of Deputies of Chile, and her accompanying delegation ton Wednesday.
This is the fourth delegation from the Chamber of Deputies of Chile that we have received by virtue of the agreements signed between us; this is, therefore, their home and the Cuban people part of their family," said Lazo Hernandez in welcoming the delegation, the website of the Cuban Parliament reports.
The Cuban leader referred to the historical ties and solidarity between Chile and Cuba, and in this regard thanked the message received and the delegation that traveled to Cuba on the occasion of the death of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro and solidarity with Cubans for the scourge of the hurricane that last year hit the Cuban archipelago.
The note also states that the Chilean deputies highlighted the usefulness of the activities of the program organized by the Cuban hosts, which included meetings with the Committee on Constitutional and Legal Affairs, with which they were able to learn and clarify details of the scope of the changes contained in the new Magna Carta, and the Health and Sports Charter, the development and results of health programs in Cuba.
The South American colleagues also visited the National Institute of Oncology and Radiobiology, the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology and the Mariel Special Development Zone.
On the Chilean side, Congresswoman Fernández Allende, Congressmen Fidel Espinosa, Manuel Mansalve, Gabriel Ascencio, Hugo Gutiérrez and Andrés Longton, as well as Mauricio Hurtado Navia, ambassador to Cuba, were present.
