Diaz-Canel Receives President of PanamaHAVANA, Cuba, Oct 30 (ACN) The President of the Councils of States and Ministers, Miguel Díaz-Canel received on Monday afternoon the President of the Republic of Panama, Juan Carlos Varela Rodríguez, who is on an official visit to Cuba.

During the cordial meeting, both presidents exchanged views on the good state of relations between the two countries and the prospects for bilateral cooperation, foreign investment and trade.
Díaz-Canel thanked Panama for its support for the Cuban resolution presented each year at the United Nations General Assembly against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States.
They also addressed other issues on the regional and international agenda.
Cuba and Panama maintain historical political-diplomatic relations and have developed a positive bilateral dialogue based on friendship and cooperation.
Accompanying the distinguished visitor were Augusto Arosemena Moreno, Minister of Commerce and Industry; Alcibíades Vásquez Velásquez, Minister of Social Development; Luis Miguel Hincapié, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs; Marien Calviño, Vice Minister of Tourism; Nicole Wong, Director of Foreign Policy at the Panamanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Max José López Cornejo, Ambassador to Cuba.
