HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 26 (ACN) The Ninth Congress of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) begins this Tuesday in the Conventions Center, an event that will analyze how the organization can better perform its functions in the neighborhoods.
The event, which will run until Friday, September28, will be attended by 480 delegates from all over the country, plus 90 guests.
Central Committee and State Council member Carlos Rafael Miranda, national coordinator of the CDR, told Radio Reloj that they will discuss how the Committees will continue to be consistent with the thinking and teachings of their founder, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro.
Miranda explained that they will analyze ways to promote tasks such as surveillance, prevention, confronting crime, illegalities, ideological political work with the family and especially with young people.
During these days there will be three work commissions that will discuss the internal functioning and the politics of cadres; the ideological work and the support to the tasks of the economy, as well as the fulfillment and strengthening of the foundational tasks of the organization.
Prior to the event, the CDRs developed a broad organic process, and more than 100,000 young people were selected to make up the IX Congress Detachments.
