Cuban President will speak today in the UN

Cuban President will speak today in the UNHAVANA, Cuba, Sep 26 (ACN) The President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Diaz-Canel, will deliver a speech today at the commemoration of the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons at the UN General Assembly.

The Cuban head of state will also take part in the high-level general debate of the LXXII session of the multilateral organization, whose main theme on this occasion is to make the UN relevant to all people: global leadership and shared responsibilities for peaceful, equitable and sustainable societies.

As part of his agenda in New York, Díaz-Canel will meet with Antonio Guterres, UN Secretary General and hold a dialogue with Bill de Blasio, mayor of the North American city.

He will also be greeted by friends of Cuba at Riverside Church, where they will evoke Fidel's presence there during his first visit to the United Nations in September 1960.

Diaz-Canel arrived in New York last Sunday to participate in the Nelson Mandela Peace Summit, dedicated to honoring the South African anti-racist leader,

In the first session of the world meeting, he gave a speech in which he stated that international peace remains threatened by the philosophy of domination.

He then met with heads of state and government, representatives of international organizations, members of the U.S. Congress and senior executives of technology companies.
