Cuban President Diaz-Canel arrives in New York

Cuban President Diaz-Canel arrives in New YorkHAVANA, Cuba, Sep 24 (ACN) The President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Díaz-Canel, arrived at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York to participate in the General Debate of the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly.

José Ramón Cabañas, Cuba's ambassador to the United States, and Anayansi Rodríguez, Cuba's permanent representative to the United Nations, were there to receive Diaz-Canel.

His agenda in New York includes his participation in the Peace Summit, dedicated to South African fighter Nelson Mandela, as well as in the commemoration sessions for the Day of the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons.

The Cuban President, in his first visit to the UN headquarters, will also hold bilateral meetings with other heads of state and will exchange with solidarity groups with Cuba.

Accompanying Díaz-Canel are Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla; Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Minister Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz; Communications Minister Jorge Luis Perdomo Di-Lella; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Abelardo Moreno Fernández; U.S. General Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Carlos Fernández de Cossío Domínguez; Ambassador Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo, Permanent Representative to the United Nations; and José Ramón Cabañas Rodríguez, Cuban Ambassador to the United States.
