Cuban Sierra finishes fourth in Giro della Toscana

HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 10 (acn) Cuban Arlenis Sierra finished fourth in the Giro della Toscana, Italy, after ranking ninth in the third stage of the contest.

This final stretch covered 121.8 kilometers and was won by Italian Soraya Paladin, who runs for the local team of Alé Cipollini and thus become champion of the race.
The winner was escorted in the General Classification by her countrywoman Maria Giulia Confalonieri and Ukrainian Tetyana Riabchenko, in that order.
Sierra, who runs for the Kazakh club Astana Women´s Team, finished third in the first stage (individual time trial) and then ranked second in the second stretch to wear the leader's pink jersey.
"I am very happy with this result because it is also part of my preparation to debut in a World Championship, which next edition will be from next September 22 to 30 in the Austrian city of Innsbruck," she told JIT sports publication.
Sierra´s next competition will be tomorrow when attending a seven-stage tour in France.
