Bus gets off the road: three dead, 36 injured in CubaSANTIAGO DE CUBA, Cuba, Aug 14 (ACN) A tourist bus went off the road near the Antonio Maceo Airport, in the eastern city of Santiago de Cuba, some 970 kilometers east of Havana, and three people were killed while 36 others were injured.

Workers from the Institute of Water Resources in Matanzas and their families were heading to the Balcón del Caribe Hotel for their vacations in the bus belonging to Transtur, the transportation company for the Ministry of Tourism.

According to eyewitnesses the bus was traveling too fast on a winding road and hit several concrete flower plots, before breaking the metal rail and capsizing.

People living near the site rushed to provide first aid and free those trapped in the bus, before the paramedics and rescue teams arrived.

Aris Arias, head of operations and relief of the Red Cross in the province, told ACN that they provided all the help they could with the Fire Department in the evacuation of those affected to hospitals in this city. Managers and workers from the Institute of Water Resources are now standing by the victims of the unfortunate accident to help them with everything they need.

Legal medical specialists, experts and transit technicians work on-site to define the causes of the fatal accident, and made a call to drivers to have a greater sense of belonging when they perform that task and to comply with the requirements to maintain full control of the equipment.
