HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 20 (acn) Cuba begin today their activities in the Central American and Caribbean Games with presence in 17 sports in the Colombian city of Barranquilla as main stage, but also in the co-host cities of Bogota and Cali, where they should win their first medals in the time-trial event of the women´s road cycling.
According to the official site of the competition, Cubans will participate today in 12 individual and five team sports, including basketball, handball, baseball, diving, artistic gymnastics, weightlifting, swimming, racquetball, softball, taekwondo, volleyball, table tennis, sailing, cycling, modern pentathlon, rowing and equestrian.
The Cuban delegation is made up by 538 athletes and 133 coaches and its main purpose in the Games is heading the standings by countries to repeat the performance they have achieved since the version of Panama 1970.
