HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 9 (ACN) The Jose Marti European Solidarity with Cuba Brigade was welcomed on Monday at the Julio Antonio Mella International Camp in the province of Artemisa.
The President of the Institute of Friendship with the People's, ICAP, Fernando Gonzalez highlighted the presence of 80 brigadistas, mainly from Germany, Czech Republic, Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, Britain, Russia, Switzerland, Sweden and Belgium.
Gonzalez said that the majority of the brigadistas a young people that want to learn about the Cuban reality and then pass on their experiences and impressions to other parts of the world.
It is important that these young people come to learn about Cuba and later promote the truth about the country that is working for the wellbeing of its people and will continue towards its socialist path.
He expressed the brigade is in Cuba at a an important moment for the country as it is ready to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the attacks against the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Cespedes Military Barracks in Santiago de Cuba and Bayamo, respectively.
Maria Concepcion Pereira, from Portugal who has come to the Caribbean island 14 times with the Jose Marti European Brigade expressed gratitude to the Cuban authorities and reiterated her admiration for the Cuban people's courage and tenacity and dedication in constructing a better and happy world for all.
The brigadistas will participate in agricultural work, attend conferences and tour places of historic and social interests among them, Santiago de Cuba and Sancti Spiritus.
While in Santiago de Cuba, they will visit the Moncada Garrison and participate in July 26th celebrations.
