Cuba: National Assembly of People's Power Committees in sessionHAVANA, Cuba, Jun 4 (ACN) The 10 standing commissions of the National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP) began their sessions at the Havana Convention Center, where the evaluation of the results of the previous Legislature is the first item on the day's agenda.

The directives that will guide their performance over the next five years will also be the focus of the attention of the 380 deputies who will learn about the functioning of central government agencies and organizations related to the areas of their competence, in the presence of ministers and other senior officials.
The Constitutional Reform process approved on Saturday in an extraordinary session will be a priority, with a view to which each commission will focus its tasks on the modification of the country's Magna Carta, beyond the actions that should lead the Constitutional and Legal Affairs process and the one created to elaborate and present the draft Constitution.
In the period 2018-2023, these working groups will also continue the implementation of the agreements of the Seventh Party Congress, the Guidelines of the Economic and Social Policy of the Party and the Revolution, and the National Development Plan until 2030.
On Saturday, the 10 standing committees of the National Assembly of the People's Power were approved, and on that occasion they also explained to the deputies the issues related to the Legislative Procedure in general and to the Constitutional Reform in particular, and the attributions and functioning of the highest legislative body, the Council of State and the committees themselves.
They are: Constitutional and Legal Affairs; International Relations; Attention to Services; Health and Sport; Economic Affairs; Attention to Children, Youth and Equal Rights of Women; Education, Culture, Science, Technology and Environment; Industry, Construction and Energy; National Defense; and Agrifood.
