Cuba: commission to draft new constitution start works

HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 4 (ACN) On Sunday, June third, the working sessions of the Commission charged by the Cuban Parliament with the drafting and presentation of the Preliminary Draft Constitution of the Republic began at the Palace of the Revolution.

Led by its President, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, Army General Raúl Castro, this first meeting was intended to inform the members of the Commission of the previous studies that a group of comrades had carried out on the subject and which constitute the basis for their work.
The meeting, which was also attended by the President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Díaz-Canel and the second secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, José Ramón Machado Ventura, discussed issues related to the impact on the constitutional order of the economic, political and social transformations resulting from the agreements approved at the VI and VII congresses of the Party and the objectives of its First National Conference.
The Commission, made up of 33 members representing the entire Cuban society, will continue its work sessions without interruption, taking into account the importance and priority of this task for the current times of the Revolution.
