Cuban Railways assesses situation in damaged railwaysHAVANA, Cuba, May 31 (ACN) Specialized crews of the Union of Cuban Railroads are working on the evaluation and gradual solution to the interruptions in the railways in the provinces of Matanzas, Villa Clara, Cienfuegos, Sancti Spiritus, Ciego de Avila and Camagüey, that were consequence of the heavy rains in those places, the Union of Cuban Railroads reported today in a press release.

On Wednesday morning, freight and passenger trains resumed traffic on the Central Line:

From Havana, the Havana-Guantanamo trains (all the way from Havana to Guantanamo) and the Havana-Sancti Spiritus train (to the Guayos station, where it will continue by bus to the provincial capital, as the traffic over the Zaza River bridge is interrupted) will leave at their usual times.

In addition, the train that was cancelled last Monday, Guantánamo - Havana, will leave this Thursday from that eastern province at the established time. The rest of the services are returned on the corresponding days and times.

The provincial service trains will be incorporated as the effects on the tracks through which they travel are resolved, and will be reported in each territory in a timely manner in coordination with the Provincial Defense Councils.

Travelers who had reservations on the affected days will be given priority for travel once services are restored. Those who do not wish to travel will be reimbursed 100% of the value of the ticket until 15 days after the corresponding service is restored.
