The Political Maturity of the Cuban People Reinforces the Revolution

GUANTANAMO, Cuba, Apr 17 (ACN) The political maturity of the Cuban people currently assures the continuity of the Revolution, said Idaliena Diaz Casamayor, deputy of the National Assembly of the people's Power in the municipality of Guantanamo.

The 28-year-old deputy told ACN that one of the country's accomplishments is having assured that the new generation is capable of continuing and maintaining the achievements of the last 60 years.

With such a young age and less experience, the new generation is leading the important processes in the country's socio-economic life, defending Cuba in different scenarios as demonstrated recently in Lima, Peru.

There the young people raised their voice in defense of Cuba in a space obviously manipulated by the Organization of American States, she said.

Regarding the composition of the new Parliament, Diaz Casamayor highlighted that the presence of young people is an example of the democracy that characterizes the Cuban electoral system which also prioritizes the representation of the elected deputies in the base, like herself, which improves the decision making of the entity.

These people are elected in the neighborhoods, districts and allows the decisions taken are those confronted by the population in their daily lives, said the deputy from Guantanamo.

Elected a second time to the maximum entity of the Cuban State, Diaz Casamayor is happy, despite knowing that it's a great responsivity.

When one takes on a social responsibility like being a deputy, one must think beyond its surrounding area, it requires having a longer vision of the nation, including the world and forces you to improve each day in all spheres in order to really contribute to the development of the society we chose to construct, she concluded.

Young Cubans between the ages of 18 and 35 make up a little over 13 percent of the new National Assembly that will be constituted on April 18th, while 47.4 percent are district delegates.
