International Computer Science Convention opens in Havana

HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 19 (ACN) With a Round Table on the advances in the process of computerization of Cuban society, chaired by Jorge Luis Perdomo, First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Communications (Mincom), the XVII International Convention and Fair on Information Technology 2018 will be inaugurated this Monday.

The event that will take place until March 23rd at the Havana´s Conventions Center and the Pabexpo fairgrounds, in this capital city, is one of the most important events in the sector.
Grisel Reyes, president of the Informatics and Communications Group (GEIC), said during a press conference that one of the purposes of the meeting was to promote Cuba's image through the capacity of its professionals to develop technologies.
She also informed that the International Fair will be inaugurated on March 20 with the participation of Russia, China, Spain, Venezuela, Panama, Canada, Brazil, Portugal, Germany and Cuba.
In it, she added, important solutions and projects will be presented that will contribute to the development of Technologies and Communications (ICT).
Among those, she said, an e-government system from the company DESOFT, which streamlines and reduces the costs and/or activities of the public system, and consists of a portal that simplifies the processes of institutional support and creates channels to increase citizen participation.
A solution that seeks reliable, consistent and available information in real time for health care services at different levels to increase the quality of care will be the letter of introduction of the company SOFTEL, said the director.
The chairwoman of the IGEC also spoke about the development of the Business Forum, which is scheduled to start on 20 March in Pabexpo, where the results of some important ICT practices will be presented.
In this regard, she referred to the Radio Regulations and their global harmonization of radio spectrum use and to the test results of China's DTMB (A) standard, presented by HAIER, to name but two examples.
