General Secretary of Cuba's Workers Confederation: to Vote is a Genuine Message of Support to the Revolution

HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 11 (ACN) The General Secretary of the Workers Confederation, CTC, Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento said on Sunday in Havana that voting in the country's general elections is a genuine message to the world that the Cuban people supports the
Revolution.

After exercising his right to vote, the union leader pointed out that today, more than ever, each Cuban that votes is also defending the legacy of the leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro.

Guilarte de Nacimiento affirmed that the electoral process is a ratification of the unity of the Cuban people in favor of the country's social projects that we have sovereignly constructed.

He added that it is a conscious democratic exercise in a scenario of transformations and search for alternatives with the presence of new actors that are added to today's electoral process.

We are demonstrating that despite the difficult economic conditions, the population is capable of moving on and defending the principle they believe in, said the General Secretary of the CTC.

Guilarte de Nacimiento expressed that elections is the right for the workers to endorse their achievements because it has been the Revolution that have given them so many benefits in the last 59 years.

He stressed that to guarantee those that are working today; organizational measures have been adopted in guaranteeing their votes without affecting production and services.

Exercising the population's democracy began at 7:00am until 18:00 (local time) in over 24 thousand 400 electoral colleges across the country.

The Cuban people are casting their votes for 605 deputies to the National Assembly of the People's Power and one thousand 265 provincial delegates.

The Provincial Assemblies will be constituted next March 25th while the National Assembly on April 19th.
