Cuban shot put thrower to received medal from 2008 Indoor World Cup

HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 28 (acn) The International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) will grant a bronze medal to Cuban Misleydis Gonzalez, who ranked fourth in the women´s shot put of Valencia 2008 Indoor World Cup, after the disqualification of Belarusian Nadzeya Ostapchuk, the entity stated.

In that competition, Ostapchuk finished second only surpassed by New Zealand´s Valerie Adams, but she failed retroactive tests on use of anabolic steroids metenolone.
Chinese Li Meiju, third in the Spanish city, will receive the silver medal illegally won by the European athlete, who also lost the Olympic title she won in Beijing 2008.
The IAAF also announced they will reassign up to six medals won in indoor global tournaments in the coming World Cup of this category to be held from next March 1st to 4.
That list released by IAAF includes Dane Joachim Olsen, who became silver medalist of men´s shot put event in Moscow 2006 WC; and the medalists in that same tournament Tianna Bartoletta (USA/Women´s long jump/Gold) and Conchi Montaner (Spain/Women´s long jump/Bronze).
The other three athletes will all be awarded bronze medals and they are Slovenian Marija Sestak (Valencia 2008/women´s triple jump); German Ralf Bartels (Doha 2010/men´s shot put) and American Hyleas Fountain (Doha 2010/Pentathlon).
