SANTA CLARA, Cuba, Feb 12 (ACN) The Cuban Telecommunications Company, ETECSA, expects some 21 new Wi-Fi areas to be installed in Villa Clara province this year with the objective of reaching at last a third of the population in each municipality.
Among some of the expectations of the company for the current year is to combine exterior and interior areas in addition to diversifying the services in the sites with more demand, like the Vidal Park in the city of Santa Clara.
The head of the Development and Operations Department of ETECSA Roberto Perez Morales told the press that among the new sites are the America Latina and Maceo Parks, Casa del Gobernador and the corner of Home all located in the city.
The municipalities will include the July 26 neighborhood in Sagua La Grande; Baez in Placetas and Manacas in Santo Domingo, said Perez Morales
He pointed out that the technology for wifi connection was installed in the first two months of 2018 in the Somos Jovenes Recreational complex, the 8 de Marzo Rapido Cafeteria, all in Santa Clara and in Vega Alta in Encrucijada.
Authorities are expected to improve the technology in the already existing Wi-Fi areas amounting to 40 in the province in addition to increasing navigation velocity to two megabytes in all, said the specialist.
