Cuba and Jamaica are Committed in Strengthening Cultural Ties

HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 23 (ACN) Cuba and Jamaica expressed on Wednesday their commitment in continuing to strengthen bilateral ties, especially in the cultural field, reported CubaMinrex website.

The information refers to a meeting in Kingstson between the Jamaican Culture, Gender, Recreation and Sports Minister, Olivia Grange and Cuba's First Deputy Culture Minister, Maria Elena Salgado.

Grange expressed interest in the assistance of Cuban cultural authorities for the implementation of strategies for a major appreciation and enjoyment of the arts in her country.

The Cuban First Deputy Culture Minister referred to the desire in identifying areas in the cultural field and artistic education to strengthen the already excellent relations between both Caribbean islands.

Salgado invited her Jamaican counterpart to participate in the upcoming Caribbean Festival to be held in Santiago de Cuba next July and expressed gratitude to the warm welcome of the Jamaican authorities towards the Cuban delegation.

Cuban Deputy Culture Minister Kenelma Carvajal and other members of the delegation were present in the meeting in addition to Cuba's ambassador to Jamaica, Ines Fors Fernandez.
