HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 16 (ACN) The important transformations in the economic, political, social and cultural sectors in Bolivia in the last decade were highlighted on Tuesday in Havana by the ambassador to that South American country in Cuba, Juan Ramon Quintana.
As part of a colloquium held in the Casa del Alba Cultural Center, the Bolivian diplomat highlighted the main advances of his country on occasion of the 8th anniversary of the existence of a Multinational State on January 22nd in addition to the 12th anniversary of the government headed by Evo Morales.
According to the Ambassador, Bolivia changed from a semi-colonial Republic to a Multinational State, becoming a free and sovereign nation.
It was impossible to live and sustain a society where 65 percent of the people lived in extreme poverty, said Quintana, who also mentioned other problems in that country, "trained to obey the financial and economic formulas" of the international entities.
He pointed out that the changes in his country were possible thanks to the call to a constitutional assembly, which allowed the inclusion of all sectors of Bolivian society.
Quintana mentioned important processes like the nationalization of the natural resources, the re-distribution of the country's richness and the public investment, getting rid of the financial, political and cultural intrusion.
It was not only an economic issue, but also sovereignty, without it, we would be nothing, said Quintana and referred to Evo Morales as the main architect in the emancipation of the identity of the Bolivian people and "life among diversity".
Quintana commented on the transformations regarding foreign policy during the government of Evo Morales, "who recovered the voice of the people" and gave Bolivian diplomacy courage and identity.
Professor of the Raul Roa Garcia Higher Institute of International Relations, Luis Suarez said that instituting the first and up until now, only Multinational State in the continent is one of the transcendental events in history.
The Bolivian Constitution belongs to what has begun to be called the new Latin American Constitutionalism going beyond borders of the Andean nation, there was abundant professors that pointed out that they are looking for a balance among humans, society and nature.
Suarez pointed out that the foundation of the Multinational State and later the first election and up until today the only President born from the indigenous peoples, was one of the defeats against the reactionary George W. Bush administration.
