HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 10 (ACN) Cubans living in tall buildings in Havana, Pinar del Rio and Isle of Youth felt the 7.6 magnitude earthquake whose epicenter was located off the coast of Honduras, some 450 south on Isle of Youth.
The Cuban Seismologic Network registered the tremor at 9.51 at night this Tuesday. A tsunami alert was issued for all the Cuban south coastal areas, but it was discarded later.
According to reports from Pinar del Rio, the tall buildings started shaking, and people went to the streets fearing there could be some collapses. In Isle of Youth, closer to the epicenter, people took longer to return to their houses, and were expectant due to the tsunami alert.
