2017: Year of Tremendous Efforts in Havana, Says Lopez Acea

HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 29 (acn) The First Secretary of the Cuban Communist Party in Havana, Mercedes Lopez Acea said on Friday that 2017 was a year of tremendous efforts for the population in the capital city, revolutionary reaffirmation and convctions that work in favor of the Revolution must continue.

Acea, who is also Vice President of the Council of State told the press that different economic difficulties were faced in the province due to the reinforcement of the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed by the US against the island.

She explained that added to the situation was the damages caused by Hurricane Irma in almost all of the city's municipalities, however, Ace said, the recovery was immediate in returning electricity to homes as well as the collection of solid wastes.

We are concluding 2017 with some 150 homes more than the plan and must be finished during the month of January, she said.

Regarding the decisive effort program declared in the province last November 20th to carry out the last stage of the rehabilitation of the city, the First Secretary said that they are centering in looking for a response to the oldest issues expressed by the population. +

She expressed that although not all has been solved, the integration of the provincial entities was achieved, including the participation of the State's Central institutions in search of solutions for the problems.

Lopez Acea also highlighted the effort underway in the city's agriculture, sector that contributes with 20 percent of the demand in the territory.

In Havana, 713 education centers were refurbished, 450 of them received total reparations, which included restrooms, carpentry, kitchen, laboratories and lighting.

The First Secretary of the Cuban Communist Party in the province of Havana visited on Friday supervised on Friday the investments in the William Soler Pediatric Hospital, where the laboratory received important repairs, the central sterilization area and the surgery ward.

She also visited the Municipal Theater in Playa, which was refurbished with funds of the territorial contribution process in addition to the recently inaugurated Internet Center located in 17th, and A in Vedado neighborhood where they contribute with a personalized service to clients.
