HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 14 (ACN) Esteban Lazo, president of the National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament), received today in this capital the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, who is in Cuba on an official visit
At the Havana Capitol, institutional headquarters of the Cuban Parliament, Lazo reiterated the welcome to the visitor and praised the excellent state of the relations between both countries.
The parliamentary leader, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), said that Cubans see in Serbia a friendly country, with whose heroic people they share historical feelings of respect.
He also recalled his visit to that European nation, which he enjoyed, he said, the frankness of the dialogue and the coincidence in the purposes of strengthening more and more the links between governments, parliaments and peoples.
Lazo urged to continue seeking opportunities for rapprochement between Serbia and Cuba, which will arrive next year to the 75th anniversary of the establishment of uninterrupted diplomatic relations.
He thanked Vučić for the support and solidarity shown by the death of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro and acknowledged the support of the Government and Parliament of that Balkan country in the struggle of Cuba against the blockade imposed by the United States.
He also ratified the interest of promoting cultural, scientific, commercial and economic ties with Belgrade.
According to him, those aspirations will be boosted with the signing of an Intergovernmental Cooperation Agreement between Cuba and Serbia.
As part of his agenda in this country, Vučić will offer a keynote address at the Aula Magna of the University of Havana and hold official talks with Army General Raúl Castro, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the PCC and President of the State Councils and of Ministers.
