Cuban pitching revelation ready for playoffs

MATANZAS, Cuba, Dec 13 (acn) Roy Hernandez, recognized as one of the pitching revelations in the Cuban National Baseball Series (SNB by its Spanish acronym), told ACN that he is in excellent conditions to give his best in his first postseason with the Matanzas Crocodiles.

Maximum concentration, pitching in the low area and using breaking balls in combination with fastballs around 90 mph make up my arsenal, with all this and the motivation to achieve the elusive title, I hope to achieve good performances in the playoffs, said Roy.
Hernandez, 26, said he feels comfortable in the openings, but he is also willing to be used as reliever or even as closer, if necessary.
He is supposed to be Matanzas´ starting pitcher today against Pinar del Rio, in the third-from-last subseries of the second stage of the 57th SNB, and so far he has balance of six wins and four losses, with 47 strikeouts and 31 walks in 81.0 innings and ERA of 2.31, second best of the season.
The team is going through a great moment, with most of the players in great shape, so I think this could be the year for the Crocodiles, Hernandez added.
