Nomination Process of Delegates to the Municipal Assemblies of the People’s Power Concludes

HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 4 (acn) The nomination process of candidates to the municipal assemblies of the People’s Power scheduled from September 4th to October 30th has successfully concluded in the country.

Discipline, organization and massive and active participation of the population characterized the development of the assemblies with the assistance of 6 million 746 thousand 867 voters for a 78.35 percent.

There were 60 thousand 870 proposals with the nomination of 27 thousand 221 candidates. Of these, 9 thousand 637 are women for a 35.4 percent and 5 thousand 307 youths for a 19.49 percent. The territories with the largest number of women nominated were Havana, Special Municipality of the Isle of Youth, Artemisa and Matanzas. The provinces with the largest percentage of young people nominated to delegates are Cienfuegos, Guantanamo and Ciego de Avila.

Of the current delegates 8 thousand 331 were nominated making it a 66.44 percent; the largest representation in Holguin 73.41 percent, Santiago de Cuba with 72.45 percent and the Special Municipality of the Isle of Youth, 72.29 percent.

The photos and biographies of the candidates are posted in the neighborhoods for the population to verify and know more about those nominated until the elections scheduled for November 26th.

From November 1st until the 17th those selected to work in the electoral colleges and other structures are preparing to lead the voting process in the districts.
