CIENFUEGOS, Cuba, Oct 24 (acn) The scientific workshop entitled "Centennial of the Great Socialist October Revolution and 50th Anniversary of the fall in combat of Ernesto Che Guevara" will open its doors on Wednesday in Cienfuegos with almost 40 works that will be debated among the participants.
The Director of the National Union of Cuban Historians in Cienfuegos, Jose Manuel del Sol informed that the majority of the researchers will discuss the thinking and legacy of the Heroic Guerrilla.
He added that among the guests will be a group of combatants that were led by Che in his internationalist mission in the Congo.
The President of the Union, Norma Mesa Pinero will offer a conference entitled Reestablishment of Relations between Cuba and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
Mesa Pinero said that her conference will include details of the crucial moments of February 1960 when Anastas Mikoyan became the first Soviet official that visited the island after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution.
The two countries signed several commercial agreements at the time that included the import of Soviet oil in exchange for Cuban sugar.
The workshop recalls October 25th, 1917 date in which the maximum leader of the Bolshevik Party, Vladimir Ilich Lenin led the uprising in Petrograd, the Russian capital of the time, against the provisional government of Alexander Feodorovich Kerenski.
