Ciego de Avila victims of Hurricane Irma receive aidCIEGO DE AVILA, Cuba, Sep 19 (ACN) The population of the coastal areas of the central Cuban province of Ciego de Avila affected by Hurricane Irma received, at subsidized prices, mattresses and kerosene stoves as an example that the Revolution will not leave anyone unprotected.

The two articles distributed in Jucaro, community in Ciego de Avila flooded by the sea that caused loss of homes and furniture of a number of families in the region.

Prioritizing families with children, some 200 mattresses and 465 stoves were distributed.

The floods inflicted by the ocean in the fishing town reached the Casa de la Cultura (Culture Center) located some 370 meters of the coastal strip.

A store was created for the distribution of construction materials and charcoal at a lower price in Jucaro and Punta Alegre both fishing towns north of Ciego de Avila devastated by Irma.

The defense zones of the province are creating commissions to control each of the damages and list the needs of those that will receive construction materials as soon as possible.

The Cuban government announced that the State Budget will finance 50 percent of the price of the construction materials that will be sold to the population affected by the hurricane with total or partial destruction of their homes.
