HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 13 (acn) Early this morning, workers from the Cuban Telecommunications Company (ETECSA by its Spanish acronym) in Pinar del Rio left for Matanzas province to support the rehabilitation of telephone networks after passage of Hurricane Irma.
Manuel Milian, territorial director of the entity, explained that the group is made up by 51 men, two heavy and 13 light trucks, tools and medicines; that is, they are prepared to take on the task without problems.
He added that they will develop actions such as the restoration of basic telephone system, and to do that they also have specialized personnel in data transmission and engineers to attend public telephony.
This group has already experience in facing previous meteorological events, such as Sandy and Matthew hurricanes, and maintains the solidarity tradition of Pinar del Rio workers of providing help to anyone who need it.
Another brigade of eight workers is already working in Havana to perform different tasks, thus showing the willingness of this province to help people from other territories.
After the damages caused by Hurricane Irma in Cuba, Pinar del Río province has sent brigades from the Electric and Forestry Companies, among others, to the sites demanding their efforts.
