Locals from Santiago de Cuba Celebrate 91st Anniversary of Fidel's BirthSANTIAGO DE CUBA, Cuba, Aug 11 (acn) The province of Santiago de Cuba began on Friday activities to celebrate the 91st birthday of the leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro with joy and expressions of admiration and respect for his legacy.

Children's congas with Cuban and July 26th flags filling the streets of the eastern city including the Colmenita on historic routes ended at the Granjita Siboney, farmhouse from which the young rebels departed in 1953 to attack the Moncada Military Garrison headed by Fidel.

The First Secretary of the Cuban Communist Party in Santiago de Cuba, Lazaro Exposito recognized the effort and work of the population to celebrate Fidel's birthday with work and results for a man that was born to fight in favor of the humble.

Cultural, sports and culinary options are underway in the city's main avenues, squares, parks and communities, including 13 de Agosto in Siboney. The Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) will organize activities in the communities on Saturday to wait and celebrate for the 91st anniversary of the birth of Fidel Castro at midnight.

Beatriz Johnson, member of the Central Committee and President of the Provincial Assembly of the People's Power said that the material and financial resources are guaranteed and above all, to thank Fidel for his actions in defense of the people and achievements of the Revolution.

The tribute will begin on Sunday with the raising of a huge Cuban flag in what was the electoral district number 7 in Santiago de Cuba of the Boniato Popular Council where Fidel was proposed as a deputy to the National Assembly of the People's Power and the people spoke.

Johnson mentioned the new offers in the production of soy yogurt and canned beef, cafeteria, pastries, florists, computer clubs, 3D centers and others as part of the "Santiago Arte de Patriotismo" Social Project underway in the city.

There are dancing areas with musical groups, cultural and recreational options in Ferreiro neighborhood, with chocolate and traditional Cuban pastries in the Plaza de Marte in the eastern city.

Cubataxi will debut two small trains and the traditional two story tour busses to link recreational site of cultural or historic interests.

Thousands of young people and friends of Cuba will join the well-deserved tribute with respect, exhibiting photographs, panels and debates on the life and work of Fidel in an expression of gratefulness for his struggles and courageous legacy.
