Non-state co-op receives highest Cuban worker´s distinction

HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 9 (ACN) The Veranes Construction Cooperative in Santiago de Cuba was the only non-state in the country to reach the status of National Vanguard for the results of 2016, granted by the Cuban Workers Federation (CTC).
During an event celebrated this Monday in the Heredia Theater, the president of the co-op Ricardo Veranes Carrión, Hero of the Work of the Republic of Cuba, and Carlos Nariño Arbot, general secretary of the trade union section, received the flag.
With 134 partners, this group worked during 2016 in 24 state works in the province of Santiago and lent its valuable help to service facilities of Maisí and Baracoa, whose roofs were damaged by Hurricane Matthew.
It has also undertaken the building of eight houses of victims of another devastating cyclone, Sandy, and 22 of the special program in the neighborhood of San Pedrito, in Santiago.
Likewise, it closed last year with all economic indicators with good behavior, particularly sales, profits and productivity.
Abnegation, quality, discipline and sense of belonging distinguish the Veranes co-op, created in November 2013 and it is qualified for construction and assembly, restoration, rehabilitation and remodeling.
Ricardo Veranes said it was a privilege winning that flag, which, he said, commits them to continue working hard as they have done in all works since its creation.
Milagros de la Caridad Perez Caballero, a member of the National Secretariat of the CTC, stated that in order to grant the condition to the Veranes Cooperative they took into account its contribution to the economy, trade union functioning, political and ideological action, as well as the trajectory in the almost four years of existence.
