Wi-Fi Zones Strengthens Participation of the Young PopulationSanta Clara, Cuba, Jul 18 (ACN) The Cuban Telecommunications Company (ETECSA) is scheduled to begin offering three new Wi-Fi zones in the city of Santa Clara to strengthen national navigation for children and teenagers.

In statements to the Cuban News Agency, Communication Specialist in the province Dianitsy Barreto said that the initiative looks for the younger generation to connect to Made in Cuba materials to nourish knowledge to that age sector: Ecured and Cubaeduca are two examples of the platforms.

Although they have the same characteristics to the connection locations already installed in several sites in Villa Clara, the objective is to educate when selecting contents and the focus lies in the places where they will be located.

According to Barreto, the first inauguration will be at the Audiencia Park and later to the Pioneer Palace currently being refurbished; in addition to the outside area behind third base of the Augusto Cesar Sandino Stadium.

The third zone will be in the surrounding area of the Camilo Cienfuegos Zoo while the authorities are attempting to also reinforce the recreational program of the central province of Villa Clara, said Barreto.

The objective of including children will not exclude anyone wanting to use the service with special emphasis in national navigation which also had its prices reduced to 10 cents CUC (Cuban Convertible Pesos) an hour facilitating the access to its users.

Barreto explained that the new prices is only applicable to the permanent Nauta accounts, which has two modalities: international navigation and email and national navigation.

However, he stressed that from the new Wi-Fi zones, anyone can access either national or international Internet.

The specialist concluded saying that two new places for Wi-Fi use was installed in Calabazar de Sagua in Encrucijada and Rancho Veloz in Corralillo according to the ETECSA policy of expanding Wi-Fi se outside the main city.
