Projects Presented to Protect the Heritage in Holguin

Holguin, Cuba, Jun 27 (ACN) The cultural projects dedicated to the preservation of local identity in the province of Holguin, were presented on Tuesday in the city during the development of the 3rd Territorial Workshop on the subject.

Among the proposals discussed was the "Sugar Train" and "the Road to the Virgin" Routes, aimed at promoting values like the sugar heritage and the religious traditions in the municipalities of Baguano and Cueto, respectively.

Maria Brito, specialist in the field, told ACN that the territories also have cultural tours from the Panaderos Cave to the Museum of Natural History in Gibara located some 30 kilometers from the main city in the province with a variety of natural richness.

She highlighted that these alternatives preserve the traditions of the communities and constitutes an attraction for new modalities of the tourism sector, one of the priorities of the Cuban economy.

During the event, other issues were discussed like foreign investment opportunities in the territory in the transportation, agriculture and mining sectors.

Specialists from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, National Association of Architects and Construction Engineers and the University of Holguin and members of the Economic Friends Society of the Country participated in the event.

Holguin, the third most populated province in Cuba, has different initiatives for the protection of the country's heritage among them, the My Neighborhood Monument project whose objective is to socialize the history of Cuba among the population in each community.
