Cuba with just one athlete at World Fencing Championship

HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 23 (acn) Yunior Reytor will be the only Cuban representative in the World Fencing Championship that will host the German city of Leipzig, from next July 19 to 26.

Zuleidis Ortiz, member of the national commission of that sport, told ACN that Reytor won the right to be present at that strong contest due to his position in the top 16 of the epee world ranking.
She added that the International Fencing Federation gave Reytor the possibility of attending a training camp in Germany prior to the WC.
The Cuban athlete was this year silver medalist at the Peter Bakonyi World Cup in Vancouver, Canada, and in the Central American and Caribbean Championship of Puerto Rico he won two crowns, in the individual and team events.
